Fingers and Toes..
The intricacy, musculature, and connectedness of the fingers and toes can shed light on the importance of maintaining and experiencing strong mind and muscle connections throughout the entire body. By doing so, athletes can continue to play sports longer and maintain their physical abilities well into their later years. This is something that I have experienced, harnessed, though elusive, and have shared with many other athletes who can also attest to this new paradigm.
A basketball player with strong finger and toe muscles can keep or unlock additional agility and quickness, enabling them to continue playing at a high level despite their age. These muscles can help individuals maintain their balance and prevent falls as they age, which can be particularly important for older adults who due to inactivity and natural atrophy, are at an increased risk of injury.
At first glance, most will see the fingers and toes as appendages that allow us to grasp and manipulate objects or maintain our balance. However, upon closer examination, you’d find it clear that the muscles and tendons that control these movements are connected to a vast network of other muscles and nerves throughout the body that can provide you with a new sense of movement possibilities.
